Platelet-Rich Plasma vs. Hyaluronic Acid for Hip Osteoarthritis: Minimum 12-Month Follow-Up Results

چکیده

Hyaluronic acid (HA) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) are two non-operative treatment options for patients with early hip osteoarthritis (OA). The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy intra-articular injections HA PRP in OA. Patients presenting a preservation surgeon signs OA were randomized or PRP. Each patient received 3 at 1-week intervals either followed minimum 12-months. primary outcome, survivorship, analyzed by investigating frequency withdrawal undergo surgery (total arthroplasty (THA) resurfacing). Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score range motion secondary outcomes. Twenty-eight (57.1% male) 30 hips (hips, HA=13; PRP=17) included. Two (one per group) underwent bilateral hips. Average age time first injection 54 years. Significantly more withdrew THA resurfacing who (6/13, 46.2%; mean, 1.5 years following injection) than (1/17, 5.9%; 1.1 (p=0.043). There no significant improvements declines any outcome among group from pre-injection 6 weeks, 3, 6, 12 months. For group, WOMAC function (p=0.040) scores significantly improved weeks. Compared demonstrated greater weeks (p=0.039) function. When comparing difference months between groups, improvement joint (p=0.0030) (p=0.0057), while showed decline scores. pain months, both groups' declined, but compared (p=0.019). internal rotation (IR) 90 degrees flexion an increase IR decrease (p=0.021). within Intra-articular result symptomatic delay need procedure HA. Intra-articular hyaluronic acid vs platelet-rich plasma in the treatment of hip osteoarthritis.

AIM To compare the efficacy of ultrasound-guided intra-articular (IA) treatment with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) versus viscosupplementation (hyaluronic acid HA) in hip osteoarthritis. METHODS: A total of 43 patients affected by monolateral severe hip osteoarthritis (OA) were included in the study. Patients were randomized to receive either intra-articular PRP (3 ml) or HA (30 mg/2 ml; 1,000-2,9...

Hyaluronic Acid and Platelet Rich Plasma in Hip Osteoarthritis: Work in Progress

In OA, the concentration and the molecular weight of HA are reduced, resulting in synovial fluid of lower elasticity and viscosity: diluitional effects, reduced hyaluronan synthesis and free radical degradation are the factors which contribute to the lower concentrations of HA. When the visco elasticity of synovial fluid is reduced, the transmission of mechanical force to cartilage may increase...

Efficacy of ultrasound-guided intra-articular injections of platelet-rich plasma versus hyaluronic acid for hip osteoarthritis.

Intra-articular injections of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and hyaluronic acid (HA) represent efficacious medical treatments for osteoarthritis (OA), although no comparative study on long-term efficacy in hip OA exists. The goals of the current study were to compare the clinical efficacy of PRP vs HA at 12 months of follow-up in patients with hip OA and evaluate the influence of the type of infil...

Platelet Rich Plasma and Hyaluronic Acid Blend for the Treatment of Osteoarthritis: Rheological and Biological Evaluation

INTRODUCTION Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common musculoskeletal disease. Current treatments for OA are mainly symptomatic and inadequate since none results in restoration of fully functional cartilage. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) intra-articular injections are widely accepted for the treatment of pain associated to OA. The goal of HA viscosupplementation is to reduce pain and improve viscoelastici...
